Alterations are a collecting field all on their own. Most of the alterations were made in the early 1900's as an unscrupulous attempt to fool collectors. I see them as not only a part of Confederate currency collecting but also an interesting part of Americana. Some alterations are brown ink and some are black ink. Some are printed and some handwritten. Most are relatively hard to find.
