# 0252 - T41 CR 320 PF 16 - Overprint Error
Confederate notes have a myriad of printing errors - inverted backs, missing printers, two printers, mis-matched plens, spelling errors, double ratification, double "FOR TREASURER" and many others.
Numerous individual states' currencies further contain overprint errors that often command much higher prices.
However, true overprint/ underprint errors on Confederate notes are very rare. There are two known T-43's with the TWO overprint inverted. One sold at auction for over $ 20,000.00. There is a T17 with a blue underprint (instead of green) which is valued similarly. Rumor has it that there is a note (possibly a T41) missing the overprint entirely.
I looked at a few hundred T41's in the auction archives. The location of the "HUNDRED" overprint is very inconsistent. On 3 or 4 notes, the shading below the overprint extended down to the signature line and the "HUNDRED" was about 3/16" above the signature line. Those may be considered to have misaligned overprints.
The overprint on this note goes beyond minor misalignment. The "HUNDRED" engulfs the signatures and the "FOR TREASURER" / "FOR REGISTER" statements . The shading below extends past the bottom frame line. I submit that this is a legitimate overprint error. My research shows it to be unique.
The fact that it grades 64 EPQ does not hurt a thing.
