This note is laminated. Whoever did that should be publicly flogged. I never envisioned purchasing a laminated note, much less having one in my collection.
However, this note is special. Almost all T39's are dated between May 5th & August 15th. There are a very few that are known to be dated September 12th and they command a large cost premium. This is only the second T39 I have ever seen dated in August after the 15th. This one is dated August 30, 1862. The other one is dated August 23rd and is the note shown on this site just prior to this listing.
The serial number of the Aug 23 note is consistent with the other notes (T40's) of the same date. The serial number of this Aug 30 note makes no logical sense. It has serial number 24520. T39's in that serial number range were dated August 8th. This one apparently had a serial number assigned, got set aside, and not signed/ dated until Aug 30.
