The acquisition of this Wookey finally completes my T41 collection of "Full Written Dates". It is the fourth and last of the series.
As far as Wookeys go, this is the most common and not a note I wanted to obtain for thousands of dollars. The 314 is a rarity 10 with over 20 known and 14 of those are UNC. This note is serial number 566 and not on the current condition census, but it would probably place # 19. I would grade it a F. As such, it was considerably more affordable than an UNC.
The watermark is faint. On the color scan & you can see "Ho" & "Co" in Hodgkinson & Co. On the color & negative scans you can see "y Hol" in Wookey Hole Mill. Back lit you can make out the rest of the Wookey Hole Mill.
Fricke's 2014 Field Edition states that all written date notes are " inside frame line configurations" on plates 1,2 & 3 only. That is probably a typo as all four of the notes in this collection are on plate 4.
All four are also all dated August 26th, 1862.
